Miles is a member of Phillips ADR’s distinguished panel of neutrals. In his first 3 years as a mediator, he has closed a wide variety of settlements totaling almost 4 billion dollars, in matters including securities, antitrust, professional liability, mass torts, financial instruments, and complex commercial litigation.
Prior to joining Phillips ADR, Miles was a nationally recognized trial, appellate, and settlement lawyer for more than 40 years. He is the former Global Chair of Latham & Watkins LLP’s Litigation and Trial Department, praised in the legal press as “one of the nation’s top trial lawyers,” and a “legendary force in the securities and class action fields.” Miles clerked for Justice Thurgood Marshall on the U.S. Supreme Court, and graduated first in his class from Yale College and magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was a Developments Editor on the Harvard Law Review.
