Jamie Jacobs-May

Hon. Jamie Jacobs-May (Ret.) is a mediator, arbitrator and court-appointed neutral with JAMS, based in San Jose. She previously served for more than 20 years on the Santa Clara County bench, including as Presiding Judge of the Superior Court. Judge Jacobs-May has handled thousands of disputes in areas such as business and commercial matters, employment, class actions, probate and trusts, professional liability and personal injury. Known for her emotional intelligence, persistence and ability to build rapport, she is widely recognized for her skill in helping parties overcome impasse and reach resolution. She is a frequent lecturer on negotiation, mediation and decision-making, and has taught negotiation and related subjects at institutions including UC Berkeley School of Law and Santa Clara University School of Law.
